Women's Rowing

Season Recap: Vertullo, Joyce Cap Season with All-League Accolades

The St. Lawrence University women's rowing team raced well during the 2024-25 season and competed in the National Invitational Rowing Championship in Worcester, Mass. to close out the spring portion of their schedule on May 11th.

The Scarlet and Brown started their campaign back in September at the Mohawk Fall Classic Regatta. The Saints then competed at the Head of the Genessee and the highly competitive Head of the Charles in October. The Saints Varsity 8 raced to a 33rd-place finish at the Charles with a time of 19:52.026.

St. Lawrence closed out the fall portion of their schedule at the Head of the Fish in Saratoga Springs. The women's Varsity 8 rowed to an 11th-place finish, while the Novice 8 placed 20th.

Following their spring break trip, the Saints headed to UVM and Middlebury to open the spring semester, but weather and course conditions proved to be difficult rowing conditions.

Next up was the NYS Championships where the Varsity 8 rowed to a third-place finish in the third-level final, recording a time of 7:48.391. The women's 2V8 moved onto the petit final, as the Saints came in sixth in 8:21.278.

At the conference championships, both the 1V8 and 2V8 recorded a pair of sixth-place finishes. The women's 1V8 finished with a time of 8:17.754, a little over 10 seconds ahead of Union. The 2V8 recorded a time of 8:59.628, besting the University of Rochester.

To finish the season at the NIRC Championships, the Saints Varsity 8 recorded another sixth-place result in 7:21.794 in the third-level final. Also in the third-level final, the women's 2V8 placed sixth in 7:54.324.

To close the season, junior Angie Vertullo was awarded First-Team All-Liberty League accolades, while junior Keelin Joyce earned Second-Team honors and 13 Saints earned All-Academic accolades.

St. Lawrence will return a full lineup, with no seniors on the roster in 2025.
