The men's track and field team wrapped up the final day of the RPI Under the Lights Invite with a strong third-place team finish, powered by top performances in the distance events, sprints, and field competitions.
Colin Young led the charge with a victory in the 5000-meter run, crossing the line first in 15:29.75. He was closely followed by teammates Cole Jacobsen, who placed second in 16:01.74, and Eliot O'Mahoney, who came in third at 16:11.46. The trio swept the podium to give the team a commanding edge in the distance race.
In the relays, the 4x100-meter squad of Jack Storm, Trystan Biller, Caleb Young, and Will Hauf sprinted to a second-place finish with a time of 42.89 seconds. Hauf also returned to the track for the 100-meter dash, where he placed seventh overall in 11.32 seconds.
Charles Beams added a fifth-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:20.55.
In the field events, Jack Simack threw 49.81 meters to take second place in the javelin. Erik Shattenberg finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap for 12.27 meters, and John Mahoney cleared 1.70 meters for fifth in the high jump.
Multi-eventer Tucker Hall closed out the meet with a strong showing in the decathlon, earning fourth place with 4,655 total points.
