The St. Lawrence University men's track and field team finished up their indoor team season with an array of appearances at the AARTFC championships in Ithaca, N.Y. Saturday.
"We have NCAAs to look forward to next week, but today closed out the team portion of the indoor season," said Saints head coach
John Newman. "I'm very proud of all the progress the team made this winter along with so many personal bests. I also continue to be impressed by the drive that the guys have to improve each week. We also have a lot to look forward to as we start to think about some competitive opportunities during the outdoor season."
Nick Lyndaker had the highest finish of the day for the Scarlet and Brown, placing third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.33. That was a personal-best run for Lyndaker, who missed a meet record in the race by under a second.Â
Peter Stubler and Timmy Boyce also raced in the event, delivering performances Newman described as gutsy. Stubler placed 17th with a time of 1:57.56, while Boyce was right behind him at 2:00.17.Â
St. Lawrence also sent the team of Will Hauf,
Caleb Young,
Trystan Biller and
Shemir Bridges to the line for the 4x200-meter relay, and they posted a season-best mark of 1:31.62. That shaved nearly a second and a half off the previous season-best.Â
As a team, the Saints finished 28th overall out of 37 point-scoring teams.Â
The NCAA indoor championships are the next stop for the Saints, as they get set to compete in the final meet of the indoor season at Nazareth University in Rochester, N.Y. on Friday, March 14.Â
