The No. 2 Saints were able to get four wins but were unable to get the decisive fifth win, as the St. Lawrence University men's squash team fell 5-4 against No. 3 Bates in the Semifinals of the Summers Cup on Saturday afternoon at the CSA Team Nationals in Philadelphia, Pa.
St. Lawrence fell to 9-9 with the loss.
At number one, Gregory Malsang took on Alec Spiro and the match was 1-1 after two games. Malsang bounced back, winning the final two games 11-6 to take the win.
Miguel Posada Villa matched his classmate in the fifth spot taking on Harris Ramlee battling to a 1-1 match after two. The first-year won the final two 11-3, 12-10 for the victory.
Senior
Alix du Plessis went up against Max Good at number nine and he went down 2-1 after three games, winning just the first game 11-6. The senior came from behind winning the last two games 11-6, 11-8 to take down Good.
In the final match of the day,
Dean Brooker took on Angad Sethi at number seven and jumped out to a 2-1 lead with wins in the second and third games. After seeing the match get tied up, Brooker took the final game 11-8 in the win.
The Scarlet and Brown will wrap up their season tomorrow at noon when the team takes on No. 1 Bowdoin in the 3-4 playoff match of the Summers Cup.
