The Saints got a win at the top of the ladder, and four in the bottom portion as the No. 2 St. Lawrence University men's squash team defeated No. 7 Dickinson 5-4 in the Quarterfinals of the Summers Cup at the CSA Team Nationals in Philadelphia, Pa.
St. Lawrence improved to 9-8 with the win.
At number one, Gregory Malsang continued his torrid streak earning a 3-0 sweep against Joe Smythe. The first-year won his match 11-5, 11-5, 11-6 in a 32-minute match.
Miguel Posada Villa,
Athrva Yadav, and
Gavin Cassidy joined Malsang with sweeps. At five, Posada Villa took on William Krizek and won 11-7, 11-6, 11-9, while Yadav swept Samuel Knip 12-10, 11-5, 11-0 at six. In the eighth spot, Cassidy dismantled Cormac Sullivan 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 for the win.
Dean Brooker accounted for the fifth Saint win as he took on Aidan Ray at seven. Dean won the first game, lost the second, and offered a gentleman's sweep winning the next two 11-5, 11-6 for the 3-1 win.
The Scarlet and Brown advanced to the Semifinals tomorrow at noon and will take on No. 3 Bates with a trip to the Final on the line.
