Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

The Skating Saints Fall 3-0 Versus Michigan Tech

The Saints outshot the Huskies 29-27 in the contest, but the St. Lawrence University men's hockey team was unable to find twine as they fell 3-0 to Michigan Tech on Saturday night in Appleton Arena.

St. Lawrence fell to 1-6-1 with the loss, while the Huskies improved to 5-3-0.

The visitors came out strong in the Saturday matchup, and after getting three big saves from Owen Bartoszkiewicz, they got a goal at the 4:06 mark. Isaac Gordon was the benefactor of a Teydon Trembecky pass to take the 1-0 lead.

The Saints had two power play chances in the first period and, despite five shot attempts, were unable to capitalize as the game went to intermission.

The Scarlet and Brown once again had two power play attempts in the idle frame and put on 12 shots in the 20 minutes, but couldn't solve Bartoskiewicz.

In the third period, the Saints applied heavy pressure in the first five minutes, getting great looks from Cayden Casey, Cooper Pierson, Jake Lammens, and Tyler Cristall, but couldn't find the twine.

The Huskies countered with some pressure of their own, which ended up in a 2-0 lead after a Max Koskipirtti goal at the 12:14 mark of the period.

St. Lawrence pulled Mason Kucenski for the extra attacker in the final minutes, but Michigan Tech would tack on an empty-net goal to put the contest on ice.

Kucenski finished with 24 saves in the game, while Bartoszkiewicz stopped all 29 shots he faced.

St. Lawrence outshot Michigan Tech 29-27 on the day, but went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Huskies had no chances.

The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action next week in the Capital Region when the team opens ECAC play against RPI on Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m.
