The St. Lawrence University men's cross country team faced off against one of the most competitive fields in the country at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. The meet featured hundreds of teams, including several nationally ranked programs, making for a high-caliber racing environment.
The Saints finished 65th as a team, beating out Division I and Liberty League opponents to arrive at that position in the field of 158 teams. Leading the Saints was
Nick Lyndaker, finishing 13th in the eight-kilometer white race with a time of 24:44.9..
Following Lyndaker in the white race standings was
Patrick Russell, who finished the race in 25:27.8. He was followed closely by
Griffin Roeder, who placed in 25:39.3 and recorded a personal best.
Eliot O'Mahoney also posted a personal record of 26:26.2.
Henry Hagen performed strongly with a 26-second personal best, finishing in 26:35.2.
Also competing for the Saints were
Matt Serrano,
Cyrus Goetze,
Riley Cushman,
Cole Jacobsen, and
Max Finley. Goetze ran a personal best of 26:56.4, while Cushman followed with a personal best of his own of 26:58.8. Jacobsen improved his PR by nearly a minute, finishing in 27:21.5, and Finley also set a personal best with a time of 27:29.1.
In the Men's Open 8K,
Zebediah Whitlock and
Galen Halasz represented St. Lawrence with strong efforts, each setting personal records in an extremely crowded and competitive field. Whitlock crossed the line in 27:01.8, while Halasz followed closely in 27:04.2.
Hosted annually by Lehigh University on its Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, the Paul Short Run is one of the largest and most prestigious cross country meets in the United States. The 2025 edition marked the 51st running of the event and featured over 7,000 athletes from more than 600 high schools and colleges across the country.
The races featured a deep field of ranked Division III teams, creating a championship-like atmosphere and offering valuable experience for programs preparing for postseason competition.
