Daniel Lawther,
Daniel George and
Oskar Baldwin have been selected by their teammates, as captains of the 2024 St. Lawrence University football team.
"After one of our most productive spring seasons in recent memory here at St. Lawrence the captain votes were diverse and seven different people earned double digit votes on our football team," said head coach
Dan Puckhaber. "This shows great leadership among this group. Three names clearly stood out, and these three individuals all have earned this career honor. This captain group has had a wide variety of roles on this football team throughout their time at SLU, one started as a fifth-string quarterback, one is a second-year captain, and one is a third-year captain and I feel their varied backgrounds will add to their effectiveness as leaders."
Lawther, who missed a few games due to injury last season, played in seven games for the Saints and threw 48-for-84 for 478 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored one on the ground and netted 137 yards.
George ranked second on the Saints' lineup with 49 tackles (24S, 25A) and recorded two interceptions, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.
Baldwin recorded 11 catches for 77 yards and one touchdown for the Saints.
The Saints finished the 2023 season with a 3-7 overall record and opens the 2024 season with a home game at Leckonby Stadium against the Endicott Gulls on September 7.
