Esports Week Four Recap: League of Legends, Rocket League Pick Up Wins

Our Saints are back ready for the mid-season as we head into week 4-of-7 of their fall stint. Valorant GC had a tough game on Ascent into the Pace University defense, but demonstrated some superb eco-madness winning four consecutive rounds on Lotus after losing the pistol round, final score was 1-13 Ascent and 5-13 Lotus. Valorant Open met face to face with the third seed Southern New Hampshire University and suffered a rough 3-13 defeat on Haven. The team bounced back, but couldn't close out Ascent, losing 9-13.

Our SSBU roster had a bye this week, but will be back in week five against the University of Waterloo, one of the only two other teams who stand undefeated as of right now.

Rocket League faced a tough opponent, WPI for their week four match up, which took them all the way to overtime in the fifth game. Hunter Young scored a fantastic shot with five seconds left in game five to send the team to overtime, in which Eric Starapoli set up Skylar Deitz with a fantastic goal to win 3-2 over WPI.

Our featured match up goes to the League of Legends team facing off against Thomas College.

The teams were tied going into the series and needed to pick up a win if either were looking to make a run for playoffs. Game one Thomas College target banned sophomore and team captain James Fry, who showed up big for all three games. Winning his lane and rallying the team in crucial moments to make decisive decisions. Mid laner Sebastian Soto and jungler Nathan Whittemore were in tough match ups however the duo was able to make plays happen and open the map up for the Saints. Nate stuck to Amumu all game and the improvement in setting up and peeling for carries was seen. Calling and setting up the winning play to close out game three. Sebastian showcased his Lissandra, which was seen for the first time this season. His critical flanks and combos following up on the Amumu ultimate made any attempts for Thomas College to team fight difficult. The team went on to pick up their first series win beating Thomas College 2-1. The team looks forward to picking up additional wins as they look to secure their playoff spot.
