The St. Lawrence University men's swimming and diving team came away from their Saturday tri meet with a split of results, recording their third win of the season and fifth loss, beating Wells 112-30 and falling to St. Michael's 119-57.
"I was very proud of the effort put forth by our men's squad today," said Rachel Curtiss, the Saints head coach. Their energy and high spirits were amazing. We saw some great swims from the team, and the results featured some of their season best.
First-years had a good outing for the Saints, and it began with Anthony Gabrielli. Fresh off a Saints honor roll nod for his strong performance last week, Gabrielli touched the wall with a time of 2:17.85 in the 200 back, good for first place. His teammate, fellow first-year Mason Zottola, placed second in the event.
Kevin Euyoque continued his strong sophomore season, winning the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.81. He also earned points towards the Saints' victory over Wells by placing second, well ahead of Wells's racer, with a time of 2:14.00 in the event, narrowly edged out by his St. Michael's opponent for first.
Sean Foster was also successful in the event, placing first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:40.44.
