The St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team is set to open the 2024 EISA carnival season at the Colby College Carnival at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, this Friday and Saturday, January 19-20
The Saints were originally supposed to open the season at the UVM Carnival last weekend, but due to the weather and lack of snow fall in the New England region, the Alpine portion of the carnival was bumped to a later weekend.
"I think we're all excited to get the season started," said head coach Willi Steinrotter. "We had a great trip to Colorado over Thanksgiving and despite the challenging weather our January Camp in Lake Placid has gone well too, but we're glad to see the snow falling over the last couple of days."
The Saints will look to a core group of returners, as this year's roster features one graduate student, one senior, nine juniors, eight sophomores and six first years.
"Our returners are looking forward to getting back out there and improving on their performances from last season and our first years have been skiing well and doing a great job through our two camps so far."
Joining the team this year and making up the Saints Class of 2027 is –
Emma Gatcliffe,
Lauren Haerter,
Hazel Howard,
Jakob Rogers,
Simon Trudeau, and
Charlie Welch.
Last season,
