Gabi Jones scored the game-winning goal to lead the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 2-1 exhibition win over the University of Ottawa on Tuesday night at Appleton Arena.
Kennedy Wilson opened scoring for the Saints at 9:27 of the first, when she caught a pass from
Gemma DiMento for the 1-0 lead.

Sirena Alvarez over the shoulder to tie the game up in the 16
th minute of the second period.
Jones put the Scarlet and Brown up with the go-ahead goal at 6:47 of the third to seal the win.
"A good effort by our goalies tonight, who were playing their first games at SLU," said head coach
Chris Wells. "The exhibition game was really beneficial for us and we will be able to build off of it as we prepare for our Alumni Weekend games vs. Mercyhurst!"
In their first-ever outings for the Saints,
Kassidy Lawrence started in goal for the Saints and made 10 saves, while Alvarez finished with seven. Lauren Mackay started for the Gee Gees and made 20 saves and split time with Mahika Sarrazin made 19.
St. Lawrence outshot Ottawa 41-18 and was led in shots from
Anna Segedi, who tallied five. Both teams finished 0-for-2 on the power play. Â
The Saints will open the regular season at home this weekend with a two-game series against Mercyhurst for Alumni Weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
