Three Saints Represented at Upcoming IIHF Women’s Worls Championships

Three St. Lawrence University women's hockey standouts will represent their home countries at the IIHF Women's World Championships that start this Friday, November 6 in Denmark.

Ali Domenico '09 will serve as an assistant coach for Team Canada, while Emma-Sofie Nordström '26 will play in goal for Team Denmark and Barbora Juříčková '30 will skate for Team Czech Republic.

"It's great to have a wide range of representation at 2026 Women's World championships," said head coach Chris Wells. "Emma, Bara and Ali will be competing against one another for a couple weeks along with having the SLU bond amongst them. Just another great tribute to the level of hockey that we get to see day in and day out in our league and in Appleton Arena."

Domenico played in 153 career games for St. Lawrence and recorded 62 goals and 78 assists for 140 points. During her time at SLU, the Saints went to four-consecutive NCAA Tournaments and reached the Frozen Four in 2006. She is currently the head coach for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and has been a staple on the Canadian bench winning gold medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship.

Nordström, who was selected by Hamilton in the fifth round of the 2026 PWHL Draft, was a two-time All-ECAC Hockey selection for the Saints, and an ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year Finalist in 2023-24. As a junior, she recorded a 25-11-0 record, seven shutouts, a 2.03 goals against average, a .931 save percentage and one assist on the season. She closed out her Scarlet and Brown career with a 1.96 goals against average and a .933 save percentage in 2025-26. Her save percentage ranks second and her career goals against ranks third overall in the Saints record book. Her 2,398 saves, her 15 career shutouts and her 51 career wins all rank fourth. In total, she holds down 13 spots in St. Lawrence's record book.

Juříčková has notched three assists so far for the Scarlet and Brown this season. She'll rejoin the Saints prior to their weekend at home vs. Quinnipiac and Princeton later this month.  She tallied a goal and an assist for Czechia in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.

The championships run until November 17th, you can access the full schedule HERE.
