First-year
Kendall Doiron scored twice, including the overtime game winning goal, to power the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 3-2 win over the University of New Hampshire on Friday morning in Durham, N.H.
The Wildcats got things rolling as Danika Botterill passed back from behind the goal line to Addison Spitz on the door step, giving UNH an early 1-0 lead for the second game in a row.
The Saints had a quick answer, this time from
Riley Reeves, who scored her first goal in Scarlet and Brown.
Rylan Haslam went for the wraparound, and Reeves pushed it over the goal line for the tie game just 4:26 into the first period. Alexia Côté also assisted on the play.
SLU led 8-6 in shots on goal after the first.
The Saints took their first lead of the game, as Doiron scored SLU's first power play goal of the season. Doiron rifled a shot from above the right circle and went bar down for the 2-1 lead with 6:13 remaining in the second.
This time, the Wildcats responded as Sofia Kari lifted a backhanded shot over the leg of
Maja Helge for the 2-2 tie.

Fifty-nine seconds into the extra frame,
Cheyenne Degeer pick pocketed the puck and Doiron turned on the jets, flew through the neutral zone and went 1-on-1 with Martinez. Doiron called game with a backhanded shot for the overtime game winner.
"Big win for our group this morning," said head coach
Chris Wells. "I think we all needed that one. Special teams were real good today and they needed to be. Some solid kills and a timely goal in the second. OT goal was a beauty at full speed. Overtime hasn't been very friendly to us in the past, so we are getting off to a good start this year with it."
Helge recorded 13 saves for SLU, while Martinez made 30 for UNH.
St. Lawrence led in shots (62-26), shots on goal (34-15), and faceoffs (36-15).
With the win, the Saints improved to 2-6-0, while UNH fell to 3-4-1.
"We'll be right back at it next weekend vs. top five team in the country Penn State. Should be a great weekend!"
The Saints will return home to host Penn State for a two-game series at Appleton Arena next weekend, October 23-24.
