Morgan Named Finalist for Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year

The Women's Hockey Commissioners Association has announced the three finalists for the Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award. They are St. Lawrence University's Lucy Morgan, Northeastern University's Aerin Frankel and Quinnipiac University's Corinne Schroeder.

Morgan, who has earned back-to-back ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year accolades, led the Saints to the ECAC Quarterfinals at Yale and posted a .947 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average in conference play. She made more than 25 saves in 20 of the games this season, and posted four wins over ranked opponents, including a career-best 50 saves vs. Harvard on February 14.

She ranked in the top five in several statistical categories, including save percentage (.948 — 1st), GAA (1.48 — 5th), saves (568 — 2nd), and wins (10 — 4th). Of her 31 total starts, five were shutouts and 17 were outings where she allowed one goal or less.

"Lucy works so hard at being the best goalie she can be," said head coach Chris Wells. "She constantly evaluates her play and makes adjustments. She is one of the main reasons for our team's success this year and belongs in the conversation as the best goalie in college hockey."

The Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award was established in 2021 and voting was carried out by a panel of coaches, administrators and members of the media from across the country.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, March 17, on the eve of this year's Frozen Four which will be hosted by Penn State University.
