One Alpine and two Nordic skiers have earned a spot to represent St. Lawrence University at the 2022 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by the University of Utah this season.
Senior
Ava Mattsson qualified for the Saints' Alpine team, while first-year
Emma Strack and junior
Brian Beyerbach qualified for Nordic.
"I'm really excited for Ava,"Â said Alpine head coachÂ
Willi Steinrotter. "She had a solid year during the EISA competition and will be going to the championships for the second straight year!"
Both Strack and Beyerbach will be making their first career appearances at NCAAs.
"Brian and Emma are both headed into NCAAs at their sharpest," said Nordic skiing head coach
Ethan Townsend. "I'm excited to see how their performances this season carry over to their performances in Utah."
Participants are selected on a regional basis from two designated regions for Alpine skiing (East and West Regions) and three designated regions for Nordic skiing (Central, East and West Regions). Bids are awarded to regions using a formula determined by the skiing committee. A maximum of 12 student-athletes (three per gender per discipline) may be selected from an institution.
