Katherine Sheehy won the 5,000 meters to lead the St. Lawrence University women's track & field team at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.
Sheehy passed the midway mark with a runner from Geneseo, and over the next three quarters of a mile created a ten-second gap from the Knight. She kept increasing her lead until she crossed the finish line in 18:41.4, 28 seconds ahead of second place, for a personal best.
Olivia Bernier finished seventh in the race in 19:33.49, taking 26 seconds off of her personal best.
Kathleen Merchant had a pair of top-ten finishes. She took third in the shot put with a throw of 11.91 meters, and ninth in the weight, throwing 13.67meters.
Kimberly Merchant also had two top tens, finishing sixth in shot with a 11.43 meter throw, and eighth in weight at 13.86 meters.
Emma Palumbo finished seventh in the 800 meters, running the four lapped race in 2:24.37, a season's best.
Billie McClosky took third in the 3,000 meters in 10:41.66, lowering her personal best by 20 seconds.
Maia Wahlquist jumped 1.56 meters in the high jump to take third.
In the sand pit, the Saints took tenth place in both the long jump and triple jump.
Lucia D'Acchille reached 9.71 meters in the triple, and
Laken Mooney jumped 4.78 in the long jump.
The Saints next compete on February 11 at the Fasttrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
