Ava Mattsson and Aidan Marler earned the top giant slalom results to lead the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team at the Middlebury College Carnival at the Middlebury Snowbowl on Saturday afternoon.

Mattsson placed 17th with a two-run time of two minutes and 9.05 seconds to earn 26 EISA points and 14 NCAA points. Bella Amico and Victoria Cubina placed 30th and 44th, respectively to round out the top three on the women's side.

Marler, who skied in his first carnival for the Saints, placed 29th in 2:05.16 and earned 19 EISA points and four NCAA points. Jake Reynolds and Tommy Kenosh placed 38th and 39th.

"It was a decent day for the Saints today," We had difficult weather conditions that kept changing throughout the day and we we're excited about the way the kids persevered through it. We had athletes that had solid runs, but they need to work on minimizing their mistakes."

Both the men's and the women's squads finished the day in ninth place.
