SAINTS GAME NOTES

LAST TIME OUT

  • St. Lawrence earned the No. 2 seed in the ECAC Hockey standings to host tonight's semifinal game by beating Clarkson in three straight games to close out the regular season.
  • The Saints posted a 4-3 overtime win at Cheel Arena on Friday, then beat the Golden Knights 2-1 and 5-1 at Appleton Arena on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
  • The Saints scored two power play goals in each of the final two games, going 4-for-11 in those contests.

ST. LAWRENCE LEADERS

  • Twelve different players have accounted for St. Lawrence's 24 goals this season.
  • Anna Segedi leads the Saints with 11 points on four goals and seven assists, while Julia Gosling leads the team with six goals and also has three assists for nine points.
  • Lucy Morgan has started nine of the Saints' 11 games this season and has a .938 save percentage and a 2.10 goals against average.

SCOUTING CLARKSON

  • Clarkson closed the regular season with three straight losses, the longest losing streak for the Golden Knights in more than 10 years.
  • Today's game will also mark the first season in 10 years that Clarkson will not host a home ECAC Hockey playoff game.
  • The Golden Knights have played well when they are ahead this season, posting a 6-0-0 record when leading after one period and 7-0-0 record when leading after two. But they have struggled to come from behind, going 1-4-1 when trailing after one period and 0-6-0 when trailing after two.
  • Clarkson is 7-2-0 when scoring first and 1-7-1 when their opponent scores first.
  • Patty Kazmaier Top-10 Finalist Elizabeth Giguere leads Clarkson with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. Caitrin Lonergan, also a Patty Kazmaier Top-10 nominee, ranks third nationally with 14 goals.
  • Michelle Pasiechnyk (.943 save percentage, 1.73 goals against average and Marie-Pier Coulombe (.887, 3.00) have split time in net.

SERIES HISTORY

  • St. Lawrence holds a 23-31-7 record in the all-time series with Clarkson and is 19-11-1 at Appleton.
  • St. Lawrence leads the season series 3-1. The Golden Knights won the first game 8-1, but the Saints won the three conference games last week to jump ahead of the Golden Knights in the ECAC Hockey standings.
  • The three-game winning streak over the Golden Knights is the longest for the Saints since a stretch from February 15, 2011 - January 20, 2012. The longest winning streak in the series for the Saints was a five-game stretch that spanned the 2006-07 to the 2007-08 seasons.
  • Today's game marks the fourth time St. Lawrence and Clarkson have met in the postseason. The first three times were quarterfinal series; the last time was a semifinal game in 2018. St. Lawrence is 5-3 in the all-time series in playoff games.

ABOUT THAT THREE-GAME SWEEP

  • St. Lawrence's 5-1 win over Clarkson in the regular season finale on Monday was the Saints' second-largest margin of victory over the Golden Knights in series history.
  • The only game with a more lop-sided victory for the Saints was a 5-0 win on October 21, 2006.
  • The four goals scored in the first period was the most the Saints have ever scored against Clarkson in a single period.
  • St. Lawrence never trailed in any of the last three games against the Golden Knights. The two teams have played 180 minutes and 46 seconds since the last time Clarkson held a lead, the longest such stretch in the series' 17-year history.

MORGAN, SEGEDI EARN ECAC HOCKEY MONTHLY HONORS

  • Lucy Morgan was named the MAC Goaltending ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month on Tuesday, and Anna Segedi was named the Army ROTC Player of the Month.
  • Morgan backstopped St. Lawrence to four wins in February, finishing the month with 166 saves, posting a 2.27 GAA and .927 save percentage.
  • Segedi averaged more than a point per-game in February, scoring four goals and adding five assists for nine points in seven contests. She had three multi-point performances, including a pair of two-goal games to start and close the month.

MORGAN, GOSLING FINALISTS FOR ECAC HOCKEY "OF THE YEAR" AWARDS

  • Julia Gosling was named a finalist for ECAC Hockey's Best Forward and Player of the Year Awards, while Lucy Morgan was named a finalist for the league's Goalie of the Year Award earlier this week.
  • Colgate's Kayle Osborn and Clarkson's Michelle Pasiechnyk were also named finalists of the Goalie of the Year award, while Colgate's Danielle Serdachny and Clarkson's Caitrin Lonergan were the other finalists for the Best Forward and Player of the Year Awards. Serdachny was named the Forward of the Year on Thursday.

STRIKE FIRST, STRIKE HARD, NO MERCY

  • The first goal has been a good predictor of who will win St. Lawrence women's hockey games this season.
  • The Saints have scored first in six games, going 5-1-0 in those contests. St. Lawrence has allowed the first goal in five games, losing all five.

A BAHL-ER AGAINST CLARKSON

  • Rookie defenseman Kristina Bahl has had an impressive first-year campaign, registering five assists in 11 games played.
  • She seems to thrive on the rivalry with Clarkson. All five of her assists this season have come in games against the Golden Knights, including three in the regular season finale.

MORGAN RECORD BOOK WATCH

  • Lucy Morgan recorded four shutouts last season as a rookie, tied for fifth on the Saint's single-season shutout list. The four shutouts are also tied for 10th on the Saints' career shutouts list.
  • She moved into 10th on the all-time saves list with 883 in the Saints 5-1 win over Clarkson on Monday.
  • Her save percentage of .938 this season would rank third the Saints' single-season list. Jess Moffat '06 set the program record in 2005-06 with a .942 save percentage.
