Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Saints Honor Class of 2026; Edged by No. 15 Colgate in Regular-Season Finale

Senior captain Kennedy Wilson and first-year Rylan Haslam scored early, but special teams helped power the No. 15 Colgate Raiders to a 4-2 win over the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.

Following the game, the Saints honored the Class of 2026 – Alexa Davis M'26, Kiley Mastel, Emma-Sofie Nordström, and Kennedy Wilson. "A great night being able to recognize our four team members in their last night in Appleton - Emma, Kennedy, Kiley, and Alexa," said head coach Chris Wells.

Wilson got the scoring started for the Saints for the second day in a row, as Brooke Mulvihill dropped a pass back for Wilson, who fired a snipe to the top right corner for the 1-0 lead.

Just 23 seconds later, Rylan Haslam netted her 11th of the season. Kennedy Emerson hit Haslam with a long-range pass from deep in the Saints' zone, Haslam went with some nifty stick handling and slipped one around the leg of Brooke Davis for the 2-0 advantage.

Alexis Petford scored on the power play to bring the Raiders back within one with 55 seconds left to play in the first frame.

After the first 20 minutes, Colgate led 11-8 in shots on goal.

Petford scored back-to-back with a second goal on the power play to knot the game 2-2 just about five minutes into the second period. And at 7:56, Emma Pais gave the Raiders a 3-2 lead, sending a high shot through traffic that beat the blocker of Kassidy Lawrence.

Colgate held onto their one goal leading heading into the third, with just a slight 23-21 edge in shots.

With 1:17 to play, Lawrence headed to the bench, but 12 second later, Pais caught Elyssa Biederman streaking down the right side to put away the empty netter for the 4-2 final.

"Another one goal game for our team," Wells added. "Our third periods have been some of our best and we brought it the last 7/8 minutes, but couldn't get one past Davis."

Lawrence made 22 saves for the Saints, while Davis finished with 30 for Colgate.

St. Lawrence finished with a 32-27 advantage in shots on goal, outshooting the Raiders 50-48. Colgate went 2-for-3 on the power play in the win.

SLU moved to 11-20-3 on the season and 8-13-1 in ECAC Hockey play, while Colgate improved to 18-14-1 and 13-8-1.

"We were able to show enough down the stretch to be successful in the "second season!" Everyone is 0-0 now and we get a chance to restart next Saturday at 3:00."

The Saints finished in ninth place in the conference standings will travel to Cambridge, Mass. to play eighth-ranked Harvard in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament next weekend. Game time is scheduled for Saturday, February 21 at 3 p.m.
