The St. Lawrence University League of Legends team forced a third game with top-seeded Becker College in a first-round matchup in an opening-round matchup in the Teemo Cup on Friday night, but ultimately lost, 2-1.

After losing the first game of the match, the Saints rebounded with a win in the second game thanks to solid team play and a rare Penta
Kill by Nini Nguyen in the late stages of the game to get the match all square, 1-1.

"A tough loss but I am quite pleased with the team today for taking the No. 1 seed of our bracket to a close game three," said St. Lawrence League of Legends coach Eric Shinnick. "That is a feat in and of itself. I am particularly impressed our team shook off a tough game one loss and came back with a strong win in game two. Our ADC Nini Nguyen had the play of the match with a huge late game Penta Kill to seal game two which followed shortly after a big midgame Quadra Kill from our Jungle Connor Lambert. All in all a great inaugural season for our League of Legends team and I am extremely proud of the work the students put in over the past two months."

The Saints struggled to gain a foothold in the first game of the match, with Becker player Heedher's Kayle racking up 10 kills as the Hawks finished the game with a 23-6 lead in kills.

But the second game was much more competitive, with both teams having success in waves. The momentum swung in the Saints favor, however, late in the game as the Saints claimed the Mountain Soul. In the next five minutes, the Saints executed a triple kill, cleaned up the reamining two Becker players about a minute later, took the Baron Nashor. Ngyuen clinched the match with a pentakill and St. Lawrence destroyed the Nexus just moments later to force a third game.

The third game followed the model of the second, with momentum moving back and forth throughout the match, but Heedher's Vladimir eventually leveled up and grew too strong for the Saints to defend.

With the loss, the Saints finish the season 2-4, while Becker advanced to the next round of the Teemo Cup.
