Junior Ava Mattsson led the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team with two top-10 finishes in the women's giant slalom at the EISA/FISU Carnival at Burke Mountain in East Burke, Vermont on Friday afternoon.

Mattsson recorded a seventh-place finish in the first race of the day with a time of two minutes and 12.01 seconds and placed eighth in the second race with a time of 2:10.71. Mattsson finished the day with 74 EISA points and 68 NCAA points.

Bella Amico and Ella Pepin rounded out the top-three scorers in the first race finishing ninth and 10th, respectively, while Lillian Silverstein and Pepin also finished back-to-back, ninth and 10th, in the second race of the day.

"It was great to be racing again," said head coach Willi Steinrotter. "Today was a good race overall on a difficult hill and I'm proud of how they all competed and handled themselves despite the challenging hill today."

Combined with the scores from the Saints' Nordic squad, the Scarlet and Brown ended day one in second place.

The men's Alpine squad will compete in two giant slalom races tomorrow at Burke Mountain.
