The St. Lawrence cross country team finished sixth out of 33 teams at the competitive Mike Woods Invite hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Saturday.

First-year Timothy Boyce lowered his eight-kilometer personal best to 25 minutes and 12.4 seconds to take 12th place out of 404 finishers. Juniors Jackson Hamilton (41), George David Gowdy (44), Matt Abell (77), and Peter DiNinno (97) rounded out the Saints' scoring five.

"Timmy moved up very well from the mid 20s in the last few kilometers," head coach John Newman said. "It was a good race from the team, the kind of effort we needed and a big race to get some experience running in bigger groups."

4th-ranked Geneseo won their home invitational with a low score of 32 points, led by Ezra Ruggles' first place finish in 24 minutes and 10.3 seconds. No. 27 Middlebury took second with 78 points, No. 17 Otterbein finished third with 91 points, unranked Case Western was fourth with 137, and Hamilton just ahead of the Saints with 220.
