The St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team hit the slopes for the first time to open the 2021 EISA season with two men's slalom races at the University of New Hampshire Carnival at Mittersill at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon.
Unlike the original two run format and both men's and women's Alpine skiers competing on the same day. The men's team competed in two races and four runs this afternoon, while the women will compete in the same format tomorrow afternoon.
Tommy Kenosh led the Saints with two fifth place finishes posting a final time of one minute and 36.7 seconds in the first race and 1:34.9 in the second. Kenosh was followed by
Brian Seltzer and
Henry Kearing, who placed 10th and 14th, respectively, in the first race of the day.
Chris Regan and
Kobe Villeneuve rounded out the top three scorers in the second race, finishing 14th and 16th.
"It was great to be back racing," said head coach
Willi Steinrotter. "It was great to give our athletes back something normal in their life and it was awesome to see them all competing today. Tommy and Brian both had good days and it was nice to Brian win the second run in the first race of the day."
