The St. Lawrence University Overwatch team was defeated by Central Connecticut State University in an ECAC matchup on Wednesday night.

The match opened on the Illios control map where the Blue Devils took an aggressive stand, backing the Saints into a corner and quickly securing the first control point. After an early brawl for the second point, Central Connecticut regained control to take a 1-0 lead.

The second point was contested on the Gibraltar payload map, with the Saints taking an attacking stance to start. With the Blue Devils attacking from the high ground, the Saints were only able to move the payload 38.97 meters in the four-minute time frame. On the counter attack, the Blue Devils were able to push to 29.37 after the first minute, and pushed past the Saints before the two-minute mark.

The third point was held on the Temple of Anubi assault map. The Blue Devils were able to surround the Saints and take the high ground once again. The Saints pushed back and gained 33.7 percent of the control point, but the Blue Devils used their Symmetra teleporter to get on the point quickly and split the Saints' team for the win.

"We were up against a tough opponent in CCSU tonight, further hampered by a power outage that forced a last minute substitute change in DPS lineup," said Saints' Overwatch coach Kyle Jicha. "Despite the loss, I'm still proud of our team's performance, especially Cogitasne who subbed in and performed well under immense pressure from a well-established and highly ranked team."

With tonight's loss, the Saints fell to 3-2 on the season and will return to NACE play tomorrow night at 8 p.m. against Glenville State College.
