Armstrong Heads to NCAA Skiing Championships; Saints Finish Ninth at Middlebury

Sophomore Carter Armstrong secured a trip to the NCAA's, while Hayes Graham and Jake VanDeursen posted EISA top-20 finishes to lead the St. Lawrence University Alpine Ski team on day two of the Middlebury College Carnival/NCAA Eastern Regionals and close out the season at the Skibowl in Middlebury, Vermont on Saturday.

Armstrong, finished his first run of the day in 22nd place, but was unable to finish his second giant slalom run today. However, he secured a spot to compete at the NCAA's after his 10th-place performance in the men's slalom yesterday afternoon.

Hayes Graham posted a 15th-place result for his best finish of the season, while and VanDeursen finished 17th. Graham and VanDeursen combined for 55 points for the Saints.

"I'm very proud of Carter for working hard all season and for earning his trip to NCAA's," said head coach Willi Steinrotter. "The men had a great day today and finished in a season-best fourth place, which was a great way to end the season. The women have also worked hard all season to improve their performances. We will definitely miss our senior class in Hayes Graham, Julia Ristine, Peter Spangler and Michael Williams."

Riley Whitney led the women's squad with a 28th-place finish, while Mikayla Lathrop matched her season's second-best performance in 34th.

After day two, the women posted a ninth-place finish and the men finished in fourth place overall, for their best result of the season. St. Lawrence wrapped up the final weekend of the 2018 season in ninth place.
