Dylan Babcock continued to surge in the weight throw, finish in 10th place with a toss of 16.33 meters to lead the St. Lawrence University men's indoor track and field team at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday.
Babcock, who improved on his personal best by 0.80 meters, was second among NCAA Division III competitors in the event, which drew 46 competitors. Babcock's best performance in the event coming into this season was 13.85 meters.
Gordon White finished in 12th place in the long jump with a leap of 6.52 meters, finishing fifth among D-III competitors in the field of 43. He also had an indoor PR in the 200 with a time of 22.86 seconds,
Several other Saints also posted personal-best performances at the highly-competitive meet. while
Elijah Wickland Shearer sheared 0.69 seconds off his 400 PR, finishing in 50.44 seconds to lead the Saints in that event. Dadley Ogetti had an indoor PR in the 800 (1:58.28),
Nicholas Vielhauer broke 4:30 in the mile for the first time (4:29.50), and
Evan Page dropped his best time in the 5,000 by more than 20 seconds to 15:22.01.
The Saints also had their best 4x400 relay performance of the season, with White, Wickland Shearer,
Travis Hamre and
Josh Ma combining to finish in 3:24.50, nearly seven seconds better than the Saints' previous best time of the year.
No team scores were kept at the meet.
