Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls 4-0 at Vassar

Vassar scored two goals in each half of Saturday's Liberty League matchup in Poughkeepsie to defeat the St. Lawrence women's soccer team 4-0. With the loss, the Saints drop to 6-2-2 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.

"We had a really tough start today and just couldn't seem to build momentum in the first half," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "While we came out with new found energy in the second half, we unfortunately couldn't finish our chances. We just didn't play our game today."

The Saints fell behind early on a goal by Rory Chipman in the seventh minute after she moved in one-on-one with Saints goalkeeper Jackie Sovie. First-year Samantha Allen came in in relief and played the remainder of the game.

Rebecca Andrews extended the Brewers lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute and both Kelsey Hamm and Jordan Moss scored in the second half to push to the eventual 4-0 margin.

Vassar finished with a 16-9 edge in shots, including a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Allen finished with all of the Saints five saves, while Stephanie Tapolsky made five stops for Vassar.

Lindsay Geier led St. Lawrence with four shots, including two on goal. Kaleigh White, Katie Stames and Hannah Merriam recorded the others on Saturday.

The Saints will travel to Middlebury for a midweek nonconference matchup next Tuesday before returning home to face Skidmore in Liberty League action on Oct. 8 at 3 p.m.
