Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Saints Fall to Middlebury, 3-0

Middlebury handed the St. Lawrence women's soccer team its second straight shutout loss on Tuesday afternoon, as the Saints fell 3-0 in a nonconference game against the Panthers on the road.

"Unfortunately we came out very flat and couldn't find our rhythm," head coach Franco Bari said. "We played much better in the second half and have fortunately sorted through a few things in preparation for our next match."

All three goals for the Panthers came in the first half, with the first two coming three-and-a-half minutes apart early in the first half.

Adrianna Gildner scored the eventual game winner in the 11th minute with a tap in on the far post on a cross from Amy Martin. In the 14th minute, Emma Shumway extended the lead to 2-0 with a shot from 12 yards out. The third goal for the Panthers was scored by Amanda Dafonte in the 44th minute with another tap in on the far post behind first-year goalkeeper Samantha Allen.

Allen finished with eight saves in the match, while Middlebury's Ursula Alwang made four stops in 45 minutes played and Kate Reinmuth recorded one save in the other 45 minutes.

For the Saints, first-year Emily Wade led the way with two shots on goal, while Lindsay Geier led the team in total shots with four. Geier, Kaleigh White and Emily Sullivan each tallied one shot on goal.

Middlebury held a 19-10 total shot advantage in the contest, with an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. The Panthers also finished with a 6-4 margin in corner kicks.

The Saints will continue their Liberty League schedule and host Skidmore on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the team's annual Power of Pink game.
