Sophomore Josh David advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw to lead the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team on Day One of the ITA Northeast Regionals on the campus of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

David's singles run began in the Round of 64, where he was tasked with NYU's Boren Zheng and ground out a tough win; the sophomore won 6-4 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 10-7 to outlast his opponent and advance to the Round of 32. David took on Skidmore's Radin Sadeghi and won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), and will play Hamilton's Stuart Knezny at 9 a.m. in tomorrow's Round of 16.

In the main doubles draw, the Saints saw two tandems advance through the Round of 32, but fall in the Round of 16.

Bennett Stout and Charles Schepens' day began against NYU's Maciej Zarebski and Boris Slesarev, and they won 8-6. The duo took on Vassar's Henry Zhang and Junchen Jia and saw their run end with an 8-7 (7-5) loss.

The David brothers also picked up a win as they were tasked with Bard's Peter Trimble and Nicholas Oh in the Round of 32, where they cruised to an 8-2 win. The brothers fell in the next round, dropping an 8-3 match against NYU's Boren Zheng and Bryan Hui.

In the B singles draw, Schepens advanced through the Round of 16 with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 win over Baruch's Joshua Bey, but fell 6-4, 6-2 to Skidmore's Nathan Dolgushev to end his run.

The Saints will take part in Day Two of the ITA Northeast Regionals tomorrow morning, starting at 9 a.m.
