Ryan Tingley and Jake David both advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play, and the Saints saw success in doubles as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team took part in day one of the Garnet Charger Invite on the campus of Union in Schenectady, N.Y., on Friday night.

In singles, Tingley and David competed in the E draw, and each advanced to the quarterfinals.

Tingley took on RPI's Rojus Ciurinskas and won 6-1, while David won 6-1 over Drew's Cameron Longa. Tingley will take on Trinity's Maximo Lopina in the quarterfinals, while David will be tasked with Union's Reilly Fowles.

In the A doubles draw, David saw success with his brother Josh David as they took on Union's Arhan Gupta and Simon Philip. In a hard-fought bout, the David brothers came out on top 7-6 (8-6) to advance to tomorrow's semifinals against Trinity's Luca Garbati and Maxim Golubenko.

In the C draw, the Saints saw two more doubles tandems move on to the semifinals.

Willem Naughton and Sebastían Boada were tasked with Trinity's Lopina and Hunter Morton in the opening round, and the St. Lawrence doubles team came away with a close 7-6 (7-3) win to advance to tomorrow's semifinals against Union's Fowles and Riichi Nagatake.

On the other side of the bracket, Tingley also doubled up with another win as he teamed up with Jackson Murray against Drew's Oscar Woods and Pharell Longenbach. Tingley and Murray cruised to a 6-0 win and will take on Trinity's John Pope and William Bohner in tomorrow's semis.
