The St. Lawrence University volleyball team has earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, marking its 15th consecutive year receiving the honor.
The Saints posted a team GPA of 3.616 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Eleven of the team's sixteen student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition in at least one semester, and 12 recorded a semester GPA of 3.500 or higher.
"The team did a great job of continuing to perform well in the classroom," said head coach
Shelly Roiger. "I am both grateful and proud of their academic commitment to being a great representation of themselves and our program. We have a great partnership with our faculty that allows our athletes to be the best version of themselves in both the classroom and in the gym while being able to do so with a balance of positive mental health and wellness. They are challenged on a daily basis but I'm confident our athletes feel well supported across campus."
The AVCA Team Academic Award recognizes volleyball programs that maintain a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 1,432 collegiate and high school teams earned the award this year.
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
The 2026 team arrives to campus soon; with camp beginning on Tuesday, August 18. The Saints roster will feature eight returners and seven newcomers to the program, with the first game taking place on Tuesday, September 1 at SUNY Potsdam.
