WHO WE ARE
The Saints Volleyball Program is for student-athletes who are committed to a well-rounded collegiate experience where they can excel on the court, in the classroom, and be an active participant in our campus community. Our program is committed to growing student-athletes in all areas, to ensure that you leave SLU as an empowered young woman who has successfully obtained the educational and life skills to make a difference both in your chosen career field and in our society. Every aspect of our program revolves around the six pillars of our program: Family, Unity, Integrity, Toughness, Servant Leadership, and Joy.

ON THE COURT
We are looking for players who can demonstrate a high caliber of volleyball skills along with a high level of overall athleticism. We want players who are versatile and can play multiple positions, and student-athletes who play with and outwardly show their love for the game. We believe strongly in the power of positive energy and therefore are looking for players who are outward in their joy of playing volleyball. Saints volleyball players have a ‘team first’ attitude and are more focused on the growth and accomplishments of the entire team above their own individual accolades. They are also constantly looking to compete and have a ‘lion mentality’ on the court. They welcome challenges, are mentally tough, physically fit, and will give their best effort to help their team be successful.

IN THE CLASSROOM & ON CAMPUS
We are looking for student-athletes who don’t just want to participate in their college experience but those that want to be fully engaged in their four years on campus. We want students to grow from participants to contributors to leaders in all possible areas, including academics, athletics and in their community. We want their confidence to improve throughout this process and we want students to choose SLU because they realize they will be supported and challenged in ways they had never imagined, resulting in a deeper understanding of who they are as a person, scholar, and athlete.

RECRUITING NEEDS
We are in email and phone contact now with student athletes from both the class of 2026 and the class of 2027. Visits should be completed by the end of your junior year if you are considering St. Lawrence University. Planned recruiting trips include tournaments in Rochester in January, Boston in February, various local tournaments and qualifiers throughout the spring, and finishing the club season with AAU Nationals in June. Please contact head coach Shelly Roiger if you are interested in setting up a time to visit campus. You can also find out more information by going to http://www.stlawu.edu/admissions/visit.

Class of 2026: We anticipate six players graduating after the Fall '25 season. Positions include two defensive specialists and four hitters.
Class of 2027: We anticipate four players graduating after the Fall ’26 season. Positions include one setter and three hitters.

THE RECRUITING PROCESS
Contact starts during an athlete’s sophomore, or at the latest, junior year in high school. We do not offer open tryouts when the school year starts since the incoming players on our team at that point have been in contact with our coaching staff for months, if not years. This is to ensure that we are bringing in the right kind of players that are a mutual fit for our program: those that understand who we are, what we are about, and are players that we’ve gotten to know well.

Here are some steps that we suggest you take if you want to be considered for the Saints Volleyball Program:

1. CONTACT US: Fill out the online volleyball questionnaire by clicking here and follow it up with an email to the coaching staff that contains the link to your highlight and/or skills video and transcript if available.

2. COME TO CAMP: There is no better way to demonstrate your skills and who you are as a person and competitor by working directly with our coaching staff and upperclassmen for three days. The link to our next camp can be found here.

3. EMAIL US UPDATES: If you haven’t already sent us your high school or club season schedule, then do so. Keep us posted periodically with how your season is going.

4. ARRANGE A VISIT: Come see what St. Lawrence University has to offer in person by contacting the coaching staff for a personalized visit. We want to be able to spend time getting to know you and personalize your visit as much as we can! Your campus visit could include a class observation, meeting with a faculty member in your intended major, meeting for your parents with a financial aid representative, athletic facility tour, meeting with the volleyball coaching staff, meal with the team, practice observation if we’re in-season and an overnight dorm stay with current Saints' volleyball players. Expect a lot out of your visit...we have one chance to impress you, and we will do everything in our control to make sure your decision to visit is one that you won’t regret!
