The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team followed up its dominant 2024-25 campaign in 2025-26, going 14-5 overall and 6-2 in Liberty League play.
The Saints' season began back in the Fall at the Union Invitational, where the team saw dominant performances.
Molly Jespersen took the flight championship in the A draw for singles and teamed up with
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen to take the A draw in doubles.
Ariane Karera also showed out, winning the B draw for the second consecutive season at Union.
Following the Mary Hosking Invitational, the team took part in the ITA Northeast Regionals at Skidmore College, where Aksdal-Jansen made the deepest run for the Scarlet and Brown. The senior advanced to day three of the Regional and took on NYU's Victoria Wang in the semifinals, falling 4-6, 6-1, 3-6.
The Fall ended at the Hamilton Invitational, where Aksdal-Jansen took her momentum from Regionals and channeled it into winning the number one singles flight. She and Jespersen won the Doubles portion as a tandem, while
Elisa Iuri,
Eleanor McDermed,
Alexandra Fuller,
Maya Stepic,
Ariane Karera, and
Kate Butler also had strong performances.
The season picked back up in February, and the Saints went on a run, winning their first five matches against Saint Michael's, SUNY Oneonta, Daemen, Rochester, and RIT, all by a 7-0 score.
The Scarlet and Brown dropped a match at RPI, but then went 3-2 on their Spring Break trip to gain momentum as they went back into Liberty League play. St. Lawrence proceeded to win five of its last six matches to roll into the Liberty League Tournament as the third seed.
The Saints were tasked with William Smith in the opening round of the Tournament and advanced with a 4-0 win to set up a semifinal bout against RPI. A tightly contested 3-3 match came down to the wire in a three-hour singles match to decide who would advance.
In the final match, Jespersen took the lead with a 7-6 (7-5) win before dropping the next set 7-5. In the decisive set, it went to another tiebreak, where Jespersen took a 6-3 lead. Kayla Wheeler won the next five points to take the match for herself and the Engineers.
Aksdsal-Jansen and Jespersen collected their accolades as each was named First-Team All-League in singles and as a doubles pairing. As a doubles team, the two had a team-best 18-7 record.
Aksdal-Jansen compiled a team-best 22-6 record, going 11-3 in each semester. In dual matches, Aksdal-Jansen was outstanding at the No. 1 position with an 11-2 record and went 6-2 against Liberty League opponents.
