NCAA Preview: SLU vs. Hamilton - Second Round

The No. 16 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team is set to faceoff against No. 17 Hamilton in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament tomorrow afternoon at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Saints, who made their last NCAA appearance in 2025, are currently ranked 16th in the nation in the latest USILA Coaches Poll and were the second seed in the Liberty League Tournament last weekend.

St. Lawrence earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in the last 10 years and the 16th time in program history.

Hamilton advanced to the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship semifinals, where they fell to Bowdoin 17-11. The Continentals are making their second NCAA appearance in team history.

"Playing this time of year is never anything we take for granted," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete as a team."

"Every team remaining in the tournament is very good, and we will have to be at our best starting tomorrow at 3:00."

The last matchup between the Saints and the Continentals was in April of 2011, before Hamilton departed from the Liberty League. St. Lawrence holds a 19-8 all-time record over Hamilton.

The 38-team tournament began with six first-round games on Wednesday, and is followed by 16 second-round games on Saturday.

The winner of the game between St. Lawrence and Hamilton will play either No. 3 Babson or Massachusetts Maritime in the third round Sunday at 3 p.m. at MacDowell Field.

The Saints are led by Daniel Mahoney with 44 goals and 28 assists for 72 points thus far, while Jamie Rosenzweig ranks second with 12 goals and 36 helpers for 48 points and is currently at 99 career points in his sophomore season.
