Twelve different Saints scored, as the No. 17 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team secured a home playoff game and celebrated their senior class with a 22-11 win over Vassar on Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.
With today's win, SLU improved to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in Liberty League play. They secured the No. 2 spot in the conference standings and will host third-seeded RIT in the semifinals. Vassar fell to 6-9 and 1-6.
Ted Wilson led all scorers with four goals and an assist, while
Cam Croasdaile also tallied four goals for the Scarlet and Brown.
Daniel Mahoney netted two goals and three assists, while
Asa Beach recorded a pair of goals and assists.
Jensen Kohler and
Ceron White also picked up two goals, while
David Herlihy and
Jamie Rosenzweig tallied a goal and two helpers each.
Ethan Friedberg,
Sean Wiseman, and
Quin Fedor also scored.
Both White and Wiseman picked up their first goals of the season on senior day, as Wiseman appeared in his first game of the season after battling an injury from the European Championships, playing for Team Ireland.
Drew Knight picked up a team-high eight ground balls, while
JP Charpentier caused two turnovers and
William Abplanalp won 16 faceoffs.
The Saints were hot from the start, opening up a 5-0 lead over the Brewers. Tj Carl was the first to scored for Vassar with 45 seconds to play in the first quarter to make it 5-1 after 15 minutes of play.
The second quarter was a high-scoring affair, as the Saints kicked off the quarter with five unanswered goals and outscored Vassar 10-3 to build a 15-4 lead by halftime. Highlights in the second included back-to-back man-up goals from Crean and Croasdaile and a pair of goals from Croasdaile and Beach just 15 seconds apart.
Vassar opened the third quarter with a pair of goals, but the Saints responded with two of their own, as SLU held a 10-goal lead heading into the final quarter.
St. Lawrence's offense continued their steady pace in the fourth with another five goals for the 22-11 final.
"That was a great effort on senior day," said head coach
Mike Mahoney. "I thought our offense had a lot of pop early and we were able to sustain that for much of the afternoon."
Gavin Arcuri led Vassar with three goals and an assist.
Heath Mann made six saves for the Saints, while
Rafferty Callahan made one. Jess Geoghagan and Andrew Timson finished with four apiece for Vassar.Â
SLU led 30-18 in shots on goal and the Saints finished 2-for-4 on the man-up, while Vassar led 19-17 in faceoffs and went 1-for-4.

"It was certainly a great way to celebrate a senior class that has done so much for our program over the years both on and off the field! We are excited to have earned another home game next week," Mahoney added.
The second-seeded Saints will host third-seeded RIT in the Liberty League semifinals on Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m.
