Annabelle Gitterman was named a National Champion in the Individual Intermediate Flat to highlight day one of the IHSA Nationals for the St. Lawrence University riding team on Friday at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C.
Gitterman brought home the championship ribbon and became the 30th National Champion in St. Lawrence riding history and the 17th for coaches Drueding, Wagner, and Hankin.
With all four Saints competing on day one,
Lauren Trexler opened the day with a 10th-place finish in Individual Intermediate Fences, while
Harper Eskey placed fourth in Individual Open Flat and
Sophia Korovin placed eighth in the Individual Novice Flat.
A successful day, as all four Saints placed in their respective classes.
The competition will continue tomorrow, May 2, with a pair of rides from Eskey, who will compete in the Cacchione Cup Over Fences and the Cacchione Cup on the Flat, as the Region 2 High Point Rider representative.
