The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team earned a fourth-place finish at the RPI Under the Lights Invite.
"We had two terrific days of competition at RPI for the Under the Lights Invite," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. "It was great to see balanced scoring from across the events and some impressive new season and lifetime best performances. We're really hitting our stride as a group and we're looking forward to building on our progress from here."
Amelia Berthold highlighted the weekend with a first-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,078 points, achieving a significant personal record which also ranks her 25th nationally in the event. She set personal records in three events on Friday en route to the win, and also won the 800-meter run on Saturday.
On the track, first-year
Ella Baker continued the notable start to her outdoor career, securing first place in the open 200-meter dash with a time of 26.21 and added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, narrowly missing the school record in the latter by three-one hundredth of a second, after crossing the line in 12.44.
Madison Beaudoin led the middle-distance efforts with a time of 2:21.67 for a second-place finish in the 800-meter run, while
Mia Astrauskas and
Paige Poirier contributed fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively, in the open 5,000-meter run.
Maya Dixon added points for the Saints in the 400-meter hurdles, registering a personal-best time, of 1:12.92, and
Emma Brosell scored in the triple jump. The Saints also showed depth in the 200-meter dash, with
Samantha Legate finishing sixth and
Isla Bougard Duncan taking eighth.
Field event highlights included Liberty League qualifying marks from
Kaitlyn Putman and
Lola Buckley in the shot put. Additionally, a mixed 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Cyrus Goetze,
Madison Beaudoin, Maggie McNally, and Riley Cushman set an unofficial school record during the meet with a time of 3:54.96.
