Box Score The St. Lawrence University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Rensselaer on Saturday.
Rensselaer took the doubles point, taking two of three matches to open the day. The tandem of Josh David and Jake David fell 6-2 at the top spot against Tasmay Shah and Tsubasa Okada. Sebastian Bonda and Willem Naughton dropped their match 6-3, while Aiden Ati and Felix Puyplat fell 6-4 at the third doubles position.
The Engineers carried their momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Shah and Okada continued their strong outings, defeating Josh David 6-2, 7-6 (6) and Jake David 6-2, 6-2 at the top two positions, respectively. Gustave Viennet took the third singles slot over Charles Schepens 6-3, 6-3, while Felix Puyplat and Debarshi Sen posted straight-set wins over Ryan Tingley and Preston McCarthy to close out the match.
The bright spot for the Saints came at five-spot in singles, where Bennett Stout earned a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 victory to account for St. Lawrence's lone point on the day.
