Sam LeDrew and
Tyler Cristall got the scoring started for the Saints, and sophomore
Isaac Tremblay finished things off with a natural hat trick in the third period to lead the St. Lawrence University men's hockey team to a 5-2 win over Yale on Saturday night in Appleton Arena.
St. Lawrence improved to 7-22-3 with the win and 6-13-1 in ECAC play, while the Bulldogs fell to 8-10-1 and 7-12-1 in league action.
Prior to the contest, the program celebrated the Class of 2026 as part of Senior Night. The quartet of
Tyler Cristall,
Isack Bandu,
Jack Babbage, and assistant captain
Jan Lasak was honored in front of 973 Appleton faithful.
The Scarlet and Brown, who now have 20 points in ECAC play, are tied with RPI for tenth place in the league standings, and are now just one behind Yale for ninth place.Â

It didn't take long for things to get started in the game as Yale took a penalty just 2:15 into the first period. On the man-advantage,
Andrew Brown and
Gabe Westling combined to find  LeDrew alone in the slot. The first-year held and ripped a wrist shot past Noah Pak to take the 1-0 lead.
Yale had a power play chance of their own in the opening frame, but it was killed off, and the game went into intermission at 1-0.
The Bulldogs were afforded another power play chance early in the second period, and they took advantage with a goal from Micah Berger at the 3:09 mark. Minutes later, Will Richter gave his team the lead with a goal at 5:49.
After killing off another man-advantage after the media timeout, the Saints got to work offensively and tied the game at 2-2.
Cooper Pierson started the play, causing a Bulldog turnover, and it was collected by
Rasmus Svartström. The first-year slid a pass over to Cristall, who, after seeing his initial shot stopped, stayed with the play and wired a shot home to tie the contest before the second intermission.
Even though the night belonged to the seniors, the third period belonged to Tremblay, who began his attack just 4:09 into the final frame.
Much like his classmate Pierson,
Luke Santilli caused a turnover and turned it into an odd-man rush. He put a shot on goal that was saved, and the rebound was touched by Westling to Tremblay, who beat Pak to his blocker side to regain the Saints' lead.
Less than two minutes later, Tremblay went on another odd-man rush, this time with Westling and
Nicholas Beneteau. A smooth passing play landed on Tremblay's stick, and the sophomore went bar down with a wicked wrister to make it a 4-2 game 5:55 into the third. Westling had a career day, tallying his third assist of the day on the scoring play.
Yale was forced to pull their netminder late in the third, and Tremblay made them pay with a goal to give him a natural hat trick. The sophomore stole the puck from a Yale forward and iced the puck into the empty net before tipping his hat to a raucous Appleton Arena as the Skating Saints took the 5-2 lead.
Cameron Smith earned his fifth win of the year and stopped 26 shots in goal, while Pak came up with just 20.
Both teams had a power play goal, with the Saints going 1-for-3 and the Bulldogs going 1-for-7.
With their last regular-season home game in the rear view mirror, the Skating Saints will take to the road for their final two games of the regular season next weekend. The team will head to Ithaca on Friday, February 27, for a matchup against Cornell before heading to Hamilton for their regular-season finale at Colgate.
