St. Lawrence Varsity Esports continued its strong fall 2026 campaign in Week 5, finishing 4-1 across Super Smash Bros, Rocket League, and Overwatch. With the regular season entering its final stretch, all three Saints varsity titles remain firmly in the postseason picture, while Overwatch continues to lead the way as the program's final undefeated team.

Super Smash Bros Varsity opened the week Monday against Plymouth State University and came away with a 2-0 victory. The Saints controlled the opening crew battle with a 12-5 win before closing the match with a tighter 12-10 victory. The win moved Super Smash Bros Varsity to 6-5 overall on the season.

Rocket League split another competitive week to move to 8-2 overall. The Saints opened Wednesday against Quinnipiac University, recovering from a 2-3 loss in the opening game to win four straight and secure a 4-1 series victory. St. Lawrence earned back-to-back 1-0 wins in games two and three before closing the series with consecutive 3-2 victories.

The Saints returned Thursday against Fanshawe College in one of their closest matches of the season. St. Lawrence jumped out to a commanding 3-0 series advantage, but Fanshawe battled back to force a seventh and deciding game. The Falcons completed the comeback to hand the Saints a narrow 4-3 loss.

Overwatch continued its undefeated season with another 2-0 week. St. Lawrence opened Thursday against SUNY Farmingdale State College and earned a 3-0 sweep, winning all three maps by identical 2-1 scores. The Saints returned Friday night against Stony Brook University and faced adversity early, dropping the opening map of the series. St. Lawrence stayed composed, responding by winning the next three maps to secure a 3-1 victory and extend its undefeated start to 10-0 overall.

With only a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the postseason picture is beginning to take shape for all three St. Lawrence varsity teams.

Overwatch has already clinched a spot in the ECAC playoffs and is now closing in on an NECC postseason berth as well. The Saints need just one NECC victory over their final three weeks to guarantee a playoff spot, giving the undefeated roster an opportunity to secure postseason appearances in both leagues.

Rocket League is also one victory away from clinching an NECC playoff berth with three weeks of conference play remaining. In the ECAC, the Saints currently hold the third seed and need to win at least one of their final two regular-season matches to secure a postseason spot.

Super Smash Bros Varsity enters the final portion of the season sitting as the No. 3 seed in the ECAC. One victory over its final two ECAC matches would clinch a playoff berth as well. The NECC playoff race remains tighter, with the Saints needing one victory along with some help elsewhere in the standings, or two victories to guarantee their spot in the next four matches.

With week five complete, St. Lawrence Varsity Esports sits at 24-7 overall. Super Smash Bros Varsity is 6-5, Rocket League sits at 8-2, and Overwatch remains perfect at 10-0 as all three teams turn their attention toward securing postseason berths.

The playoff push continues next week with another packed slate of competition. Super Smash Bros Varsity takes on Schreiner University Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET before facing New England Institute of Technology Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET and Indiana Tech Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
