Ryan Tingley captured the B doubles title to headline the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team's performance on the final day of the Garnet Charger Invitational, hosted by Union College.
Boada and Tingley advanced to the B doubles flight final with an 8-6 win over Christian Chowder and Daniel Saxe. Their victory set up an all-St. Lawrence final, as teammates
Aidan Baracao and
Bennett Stout defeated
Preston Mcarthy and
Rowan Bepler 8-5 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Boada and Tingley prevailed 8-5 to secure the flight win.
In singles action,
Willem Naughton reached the semifinals of the E draw before falling 8-3 to RPI's Cade Collingwood. He rebounded in the 3-4 playoff with an 8-6 win over Union's Reilly Fowles.
Several Saints earned consolation victories in their respective singles brackets:
Josh David (A), Tingley (C), McCarthy (D), and Bepler (E) all won their finals. Stout picked up two wins in the north section of the E draw, while
Charles Schepens dropped his 3-4 playoff in the C draw.
In the A doubles consolation bracket, the David brothers and the duo of Naughton and Schepens both reached the final, where the Davids claimed an 8-6 win.
The Saints will return to action on October 3 at the ITA Northeast Regionals in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
