The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team reached a mark seen just once in program history winning 16 matches. Their 16 wins in 2024-25 matched the program record set by the 2013-14 team.
The team finished with a 16-5 overall record, a 4-4 mark and made the Liberty League Tennis Championships as the number five overall seed.
The Saints' dominance began in the Fall where the team earned four semifinal bids at the season-opening Mary Hosking Invitational.
Molly Jespersen highlighted the bunch finishing second in the A draw. The Scarlet and Brown would proceed to clean up at the Union Invitational winning four of the draws.
Yvette Karera,
Ariane Karera,
Sarah Oldland,
Ellie Fritz, and
Elisa Iuri all won at least one draw.
After dominating the St. Lawrence University Invitational at the Sammis Tennis Courts, the team wrapped up their Fall Schedule taking part in the ITA Northeast Regionals before closing shop until February.
The team was red-hot from the start of the Spring semester opening with a pair of 7-0 wins against Saint Michael's College and SUNY Oneonta. Little did they know, the wins were the start of what would be the best start in program history.
The Scarlet and Brown proceeded to pick up wins againstRochester, Daemen, and Bard before going 8-0 in Orlando against St. Norbert (x2), Hope, Crown, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wisconsin-La Crosse, George Fox, and Edgewood to bring their record to 13-0.
Their 13 consecutive dual match wins to start the year broke the program record for the most wins to start a season, previously held by the 2005-06 team, which went 10-0 before their first loss.
Their first losses of the campaign came back up north, falling to Vassar, and Skidmore, but the team bounced back with a pair of wins against RIT and Ithaca to get back on track. A pai rof losses to Union and RPI gave way to a 5-2 win at William Smith to close out the year and earn them the fifth seed in the Liberty League Championships.
St. Lawrence's season would end at the Reis Tennis Center falling 4-2 to Union.
The Saints had plenty of representation on the All-League teams for their success led by
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen, who was named to the first team for her singles play and the second team for her doubles play alongside
Elisa Iuri.
The Scarlet and Brown also had three on the Honorable Mention teams with
Yvette Karera being honored for singles play, while Jespersen and McDermed made it for doubles.
