First-year Grégory Malsang was named the Liberty League Championship's Most Outstanding Player on Sunday, but the St. Lawrence University men's squash team fell to Rochester 8-1 in the Championship match at the Robie Squash Center and Dordelman Championship Court.
Malsang is the second-straight Saint to be named Most Outstanding Player after
Lewis Anderson claimed the honors a season ago.
The first-year occupied the number one spot in the lineup and took on Yash Fadte on the Dordelman Court. After dropping the first game 11-8, Malsang won the second game 14-12. The newcomer then won the third game 11-3 to take a 2-1 lead, where Fadte retired from the match giving the first-year the win.
Patrick Walford,
Hassan Madkour, and
Harry Robson all forced four games but couldn't gain any more traction.
The Scarlet and Brown will have next week off before heading on a three-match road trip on Feb. 21-23 where they will take on Amherst, Chatham, and Frankin & Marshall in their final tune-ups before Team Nationals.
