Another meet, and another history-making day for Junior
Nick Lyndaker from the St. Lawrence University men's track and field team, as he competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and took home another program record on Friday.
This week's new record came in the mile run, as he registered a time of 4:03.36.
Lyndaker, a native of Canton, N.Y., beat the record he already downed last February. He set that record with a time of 4:11.99.
"Nick ran an absolutely brilliant race to smash the school record in the mile," said Saints head coach
John Newman. "It was an improvement of well over eight seconds which is practically, mind blowing. I'm so proud of the way he took advantage of this opportunity today at BU and significantly raised the bar in the mile for our program."
Lyndaker now ranks third in the NCAA's Division III in the mile run, and broke the Liberty League conference record with his performance.
This event is one of the highest-level meets in the country, ranging talent from Division III athletes to high-level Division I and professionally signed athletes from all over the country racing against each other in a variety of events.
Lyndaker was the sole representation for the Saints in the mile run, where he placed 86
th overall in a field of more out 400 runners.
The Saints will return to competition in Canton, N.Y., for the SLU Open on Saturday, February 21 at 4 p.m.
