Lyndaker Engages in Electric Outdoor Mile, Sets Program Record at SLU Twilight Invite

The St. Lawrence University men's track and field team competed on their home track Friday evening at the Twilight Invite, turning in strong performances across multiple events in front of a home crowd, including another Nick Lyndaker program record.

Lyndaker headlined the evening for the Saints, setting an outdoor program record in the mile run with a time of 4:03.63 to finish second overall, just a hair behind the winner. He engaged in a two-horse race with Canadian university bronze medalist and team champion Jude Wheeler-Dee, competing for Queen's. Wheeler-Dee fended off Lyndaker down the stretch to set the facility record at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex, crossing just past the 4:03 mark.

In the 800-meter dash, Cyrus Goetze and Riley Cushman went 2-3, posting times of 1:59.68 and 2:00.70 respectively. The 5,000-meter run was dominated by St. Lawrence runners, with Brody Mindel taking the win in 15:59.73 and Aidan Fay following in second at 16:23.54, while Luke Calvin added a fourth-place finish at 16:41.64.

Erik Schneider led the way in the field, claiming first place in the javelin with a top mark of 44.17m and scoring in the discus and hammer as well. John Mahoney cleared 1.80 meters in the high jump, tying for the top height. Brogan McGorray also contributed with a third-place finish at 1.70 meters.

Erik Marelli was a bright spot on the track, finishing runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.07. Adam Lee had an impressive double, winning the 400 hurdles outright in 57.81 and adding a fourth-place finish in the 110s at 15.98.

Spencer Thoma led the Saints in the sprints, placing eighth in the 100-meter final at 11.29 and fifth in the 200 meters at 23.72. Kristofer Mellor added a second-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 52.41, while Cameron McNeil took third in 53.47.

The 4x400 relay squad of Cyrus Goetze, Riley Cushman, Enda Stubler, and Zebediah Whitlock captured second place in 3:45.54. Whitlock also turned in a strong second-place performance in the 3,000 steeplechase, crossing in 10:36.29.
