Saints Pick Up Team Win, 11 Event Victories in Season-Opening Holiday Relays

The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team opened the 2025–26 indoor season with a strong showing at the Saints Holiday Relays on Friday at Newell Field House. The Saints placed first in the team standings with 196 points, as they welcomed opponents from the North Country and Canada to Newell.

"Today was a great opener for our team, we're pleased with our performances across the event groups," said Saints head coach Kate Howard. "These results are a solid indicator of where we stand after our fall semester training block and provide some great data points as we look ahead to the spring semester."

St. Lawrence earned multiple wins on the track throughout the afternoon. Carly Zack won the 3000-meter run in 11:03.29, and Quinn Sirgany added another distance victory with a 5:27.09 finish in the mile run. Charlotte Blake led the middle-distance group with a first-place finish in the 1000-meter run in 3:21.10. In the hurdles, Amelia Berthold took first in the 60-meter event with a time of 9.82.

The Saints also posted strong sprint and relay performances. Ella Baker earned second place in the 60-meter dash in 8.03 and added a second-place finish in the 300-meter dash. The sprint medley relay team of Lydia Wamsganz, Lyla Baldwin, Addison Ash, and Cameran Stone took first in 4:48.18.

St. Lawrence also won both traditional relays, with Margaret McNally, Baker, Wamsganz, and Ava Machado taking the 4x200-meter relay in 1:51.92, and the 4x400-meter relay of Berthold, Grace Galbreath, Maya Dixon, and Ash winning in 4:25.86.

In the field events, the Saints recorded a series of first-place finishes. Rosemary Fleischmann won the weight throw with a mark of 11.62 meters.

Kaitlyn Putman finished first in the shot put with a throw of 10.26 meters and added a second-place finish in the weight throw at 10.22 meters.

Halla Chappell cleared 2.75 meters to win the pole vault, while Isla Bougard-Duncan earned the victory in the triple jump with a mark of 9.67 meters. Alivia Hopsicker added a third-place finish in the 3000-meter run in 12:48.40.
