The Saints dominated throughout the lineup as the No. 22 St. Lawrence University men's squash team defeated No. 31 Hobart 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y.

The Saints won their first match of the season to improve to 1-4, while the Statesmen fell to 1-6.

The wins came early for the Scarlet and Brown, who took the first five matches.

At number six, Miguel Posada Villa earned the first win for St. Lawrence defeating John Solano 11-3, 11-1, 11-4. Before the Saints went up 2-0, Trey Denman also picked up a win in exhibition play beating Andrei Turner 11-2, 11-2, 11-5.

More 3-0 wins were on the horizon as Patrick Walford, Gavin Cassidy, Hassan Madkour, and Dmitry Stepanenko all took 3-0 wins en route to the 5-0 score.

Walford, who played at number three defeated Joey Raskin Lantos 11-5, 11-5, 11-2, while Cassidy took down Billy Gantcher 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 at number eight.

In the five spot, Madkour took on Matthew Aldana and took an 11-7, 11-2, 11-2 win, followed by Stepanenko, who occupied the number nine spot where he defeated Jayden Saldana 11-5, 11-5, 11-4.

Hobart claimed their first win of the day in the number two spot, but St. Lawrence's Harry Robson regained the five-match lead winning 11-4, 11-0, 11-3 over Mason Graham at number seven.

In the number one spot. Grégory Malsang took on Javier De La Vega and faced little resistance as the first-year won 11-2, 11-6, 11-1.

At number four, Harrison Callaway went down 2-0 early but took the third game 11-8 to stay alive. The junior then won the fourth game 11-6 to set up the decisive fifth match. His Statesmen foe however took the matchup with an 11-6 game victory.

The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action this weekend when the team goes on the road to take on Brown on January 10 and Wesleyan on January 11.
