The Saints picked up a pair of wins in the Dordelman Championship Court, but it wasn't enough as the No. 22 St. Lawrence University men's squash team dropped a 7-2 match against No. 24 Bowdoin on Monday in the Robie Squash Center.
St. Lawrence fell to 3-5 with the loss, while Bowdoin improved to 6-2.
At number one,
Lewis Anderson opened the day by taking on Thomas Winston and took an opening 13-11 win to go up. The senior battled to 11-9 and 11-7 wins to take the match on the Championship Court.
First-year Grégory Malsang, who was playing his first-ever match on the Dordelman Court, celebrated in style in the number two spot against Aryan Singh. The first-year overpowered his competition with an 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 sweep to take the victory.
All but one match the rest of the way went to at least four games, with two going to five games in the tight match.
At five,
Harrison Callaway took on William Maschler and took a 2-1 lead through three games. Maschler won the fourth to force a fifth game which went the distance. Callaway dropped a close 12-10 game in the 3-2 loss.
Miguel Posada Villa also went to five games in the sixth spot, taking on Ronak Nagar. The first-year won the opening game 11-6 but dropped the next two to put his back against the wall. Posada Villa took the fourth 11-4 but fell 11-8 in the fifth to take the loss.
Next up on the Saints' schedule is the CSA Individual Nationals which will take place January 24-28 in New York, N.Y.
