The top and middle of the Saints' order came through with wins as the No. 22 St. Lawrence University men's squash team defeated No. 27 Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Middletown, Conn.
With their third straight win, St. Lawrence improved to 3-4, while Wesleyan fell to 5-2.
At the top of the order, Grégory Malsang occupied the number one spot and faced Abhinav Gupta. The first-year had little resistance, winning 11-3, 11-2, 11-3.
At two,
Oliver Bikhazi-Green lost his opening game to Dhairya Shah but bounced back with three 11-7 wins to take a 3-1 win.
Patrick Walford also had a 3-0 win in the number three spot defeating Ethan Yan 11-3, 11-5, 11-3.
Hassan Madkour,
Miguel Posada Villa, and
Harry Robson each had sweeps in their matches at five, six, and seven.
Madkour had a close first game, winning 13-11 against Jack Lungstrum but won the final two 11-5 for the win.
Posada Villa also had a close opening game against Morgan Shatzman winning 11-9 but following an 11-1 win he went on to take the sweep.
Robson was in cruise control in his match against Sumer Ahluwalia going up 2-0 with 11-3 and 11-2 wins. His opposition offered resistance in the third game, but Robson took the 16-14 win.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back on court on Monday at 10 a.m. when the team hosts Bowdoin at the Robie Squash Center.
